Which Type of Photo Scanning Do You Need?

We Match the Scanner to the Original

Most everyday prints can be scanned efficiently as loose photos, while delicate, rigid or oversized originals require flatbed scanning.

Everyday Prints

Loose Photo Scanning

Best for standard loose photographic prints that are flat, flexible, clean and safe to feed through our photo scanner.

Typical size range: wallet-size prints through approximately 8×10.

Delicate or Unusual

Small-Format Flatbed

Recommended for photos that are delicate, torn, sticky, rigid, thick, Polaroid-style or otherwise unsuitable for the roll scanner.

For originals up to approximately 8.5×11 inches.

Oversized Originals

Large-Format Flatbed

Designed for larger photographs and specialty originals that exceed the dimensions of our standard flatbed scanner.

For originals larger than 8.5×11 up to approximately 12×17.5, including 12×12 scrapbook pages.

Have something outside these sizes?

Documents, artwork, very large originals and projects requiring high-resolution photographic capture belong in our Specialty Scanning service.

Before You Bring Them In

A Little Organization Goes a Long Way

You do not need to create the perfect archive before bringing your photos to us, but clear grouping helps preserve the order that matters to you.

Keep Groups Together

Bag, band, box or otherwise separate photos into the groups you want preserved together.

Add Notes When Helpful

Index cards or clear written instructions can help identify folders, dates, events, family groups or other organizational needs.

Loose Prints Must Be Scanner-Safe

Photos intended for loose-photo scanning should be flat and flexible, with no adhesive, sticky notes, protruding tears or rigid materials that could catch in the scanner.

Unsorted Is Okay

If no specific order is supplied, photos can still be scanned. Prints may be grouped by similar size to allow efficient processing.

Large or Complex Collection?

Detailed estimates are available for projects requiring additional review, organization or specialized handling.

A non-refundable $50 estimate fee may apply. When the project meets the applicable requirements, that fee may be credited toward the completed project.

Larger custom projects may also require a deposit before work begins.
